Wow
I think I am just confusing myself on this WP site. Is anyone feeling this way? I thought I understood after class last night but now I am a bit overwhelmed. Scared I am missing something....?
Just some thoughts...
This has to be the best class I have taken in reagrds to posting on dicussion topics. I have learned so much just by reading what others are posting. Often I find myself confused and with a question and more than likely someone has already posted the same question and many others are quick to respond with an answer. This has been great with the fast pace of the course. Anyone else agree?

Wow
I must say---these are great discussions. I like being able to read through the entire discussion thread....it brings about so many different opinions and sparks new thinking and new ideas. I was concerned about being able to respond to all but with each comment I read I think of something else to respond about that I have reflected on in my own life.
Whoops! Totally am with the rest of you guys posting about the discussion responses---I also thought we only had to respond to two. However, I already viewed most of the other topics and so now I guess I will finish responding to those classmates. I am grateful for the extension to today to get them done. I was unable to join the class on Friday at 7 due to family graduation ceremonies. I am planning to view it tonight and I am wondering if I was the only one unable to be there? I hate to lose credit for that, but I was committed to this out-of-town ceremony perviously. It's always something, huh! :-)

I really like that Google Reader allows me to have one site to go to in order to follow all the blogs I have subscribed to for this course.
This week I have learned that a standalone RSS feed is similar to one generated by a blog. They are different in how they are created and what they include. A blog's RSS feed automatically generates a new item whenever a new posting is made to the blog. The blogger only has to set up this feature one-time. To generate feeds from a standalone RSS, the creator types each item and posts it, or schedules it to be posted, to aggregators and such. The advantages and disadvantages of the two types of RSS feeds really depend on what you are looking for. I like the RSS Feeds best because they seem easier and more convenient.
The Okefenokee Regional Library System serves Ware, Appling, Bacon, Clinch, and Pierce Counties. It is a PINES Participating Library. I am more familiar with the Blackshear Public Library which is a branch of the ORLS. Blackshear has a population of about 4,000 people. The library has not expanded its technology a great deal but does offer a small computer lab with Internet access. The goal of the wiki I feel would meet the library’s requirements would help to create a sense of community and would contain upcoming event information, book reviews, book discussions online, an Index of what is available at the library, children’s programs information, a resource of library and community history, and a way for suggestions or comments to be submitted to the library. It would need to be visually appealing and easy to use for library patrons. Library employees could use it to communicate with staff in house and in surrounding areas.
I visited WikiMatrix.org to decide which type of Wiki would be best for the library’s needs. I am new to the Wiki World and explored for awhile and thought it was interesting to see the different choices. I ended up choosing Wikispaces due to its affordability and because it seemed like it had a lot to offer.

Hey guys. Sorry--I have been a bit under the weather and had trouble getting all my stuff up. Hoping to "double up" the next few days and week or so in order to stay on track. My sinuses + last week of school are about to do me in! :-)
I was feeling a little better learning that I wasn't the only one a bit confused by the RSS feed assignment. I have been working on it and hopefully have it down now. It was just a bit overwhelming at first. I enjoyed our first Wimba session and it really made me feel more at ease about the course.

My first Posting
Well I am really kind of excited because I have been saying for awhile now that I would like to start blogging. This class seems like it will be pretty cool. I don't have any background in library science, but I do have some experience working in technology. My degree is actually in Child and Family Development/Early Childhood Education, but I ended up being the technology instructor at my school. I have enjoyed every minute of it. After reading some of the articles and such that are part of the course I see how quickly I can get "out of the loop." It is amazing the changes that come with our world today and the Internet. It is fun and exciting and the best part is teaching my students all of the things you can do to learn with technology. I am excited about learning a lot in this course of the next few weeks.
